The Glendale Unified School District (GUSD) is exploring the idea of closing the Crescenta Valley High School (CVHS) campus for lunch. At present CVHS is the only high school within the district that has an open lunch campus, which means students can leave the school during lunch period.
“GUSD and CV leadership are meeting with school and community partners to discuss ways we can improve campus safety, including a conversation about potentially closing CV High School’s campus during lunch beginning next year. No decisions about closing the campus have been made at this time,” according to Kristine Nam, spokeswoman, GUSD.
Superintendent Dr. Vivian Ekchian, and other district representatives, has been reaching out to organizations and businesses exploring the idea of the closure. Executive director of Secondary Education Dr. Chris Coulter will speak on the subject at tonight’s CV Town Council meeting. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the community room of the La Crescenta Library, 2809 Foothill Blvd.
