The Foothills Relay for Life is approaching and all teams are busy raising money, and awareness, for the American Cancer Society event.
Last weekend, several teams joined in a group rummage sale that was held at J’s Maintenance. More teams are planning other events as the race to fund raise before the Relay weekend, May 11 through May 12.
The Crescenta Valley community supports Foothills Relay for Life by shopping at rummage sales, donating to teams, walking the relay and painting purple footprints on windows throughout the area.
This weekend, an army of volunteers will once again Paint the Town Purple. The footprints show support by community members who volunteer to paint the footprints and by local merchants who let footprints “walk”across their store windows.
On Saturday, Paint the Town Purple will begin at the northwest corner of Honolulu Avenue and Verdugo Boulevard at 8 a.m. Stop by to help or just watch and show support.
Later that night, the Foothills Relay for Life committee will conduct a mini-luminaria for cancer survivors and in memory of those who have lost their battle. The luminaria is a moving event that reminds everyone there is light through darkness. All are invited to the Saturday night ceremony that begins at
7 p.m. at the northwest corner of Honolulu and Ocean View.
