Community Turns Out for the Hometown Country Fair

The Hometown Country Fair, held at CV Park on Saturday, April 27, went off without a hitch. The annual event hosted by the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce feature music groups, dancers, cheerleaders and more from around the Crescenta Valley. In addition to enjoying the varied entertainment, fair-goers wound their way through the lines of booths offering everything from imperfect produce to handmade bags to Funko Pop Vinyl toys to frozen yogurt, and everything in between. The day was cool and foggy, keeping the sun out of the way and allowing for perfect stroll-in-the-park weather. Highlights included the Puppy Parade where community dogs came out to strut their stuff, and the pie-eating contest where kids under 18 were challenged to eat a pie as fast as they could using only their faces.

Fair Chairman Calvin “Kaipo” Chock was all smiles as he recounted the day.

“Doctor Anderle in the dunk tank was great, something we might keep doing,” Chock said, adding that maybe in the future there will be a fee for throwing the balls at the booth triggering the dunk that, hopefully, will raise money for the schools.

Chock was also grateful for the amount of help he received in organizing the day.

“I want to thank the CVHS football team and the coach for a job well done on breaking down the fair. I timed it and we had the park back to its original state in 60 minutes,” Chock said. “That has never happened before. I also want to thank all the volunteers who helped with the 14th Annual Hometown Country Fair. Without the volunteers this would never happen.”

Combined with the classic car show, varied vendors and information booths, a good time was had by all.
