Salastina Society Keeps It “Locally Sourced” in Season Finale

By Néstor CASTIGLIONE

After a wide-ranging season that saw the chamber group exploring works from Beethoven to Weill, with a sojourn to the New England school along the way, the Salastina Society closes its season with a program of music devoted to the music of Los Angeles-born composers.

The Saturday, June 10 program will consist of works by Reena Esmail, Jenni Brandon, John Neufeld and Jeremy Cavaterra: “Piano Trio,” “Dreams of Birds,” “Prelude and Structures” and “Capriccio Concertante,” respectively. All but the Brandon work will be enjoying their world premieres that evening.

The concert will take place on Saturday at the Barrett Hall of the Pasadena Cnservatory (100 N. Hill Ave., Pasadena) from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. General admission tickets are $32. To obtain tickets and more information, please visit http://www.salastina.org/concerts/ or call (323) 332-6874.
