Haghani to Leave City of Glendale

The City of Glendale announced the resignation of Hassan Haghani, director of Community Development. Haghani served the City of Glendale for 12 years before accepting a position with the City of Santa Ana as its executive director of Planning and Building Agency.

Haghani has a long history in municipal service. He began his career with the City of Los Angeles in 1989 holding many positions in the Planning Dept. before moving to the City of West Hollywood for seven years where he became a senior planner. In January 2003, Haghani joined the City of Glendale after serving the City of South Pasadena as its transportation manager. During the past 12 years, Hassan served in many planning capacities for the City of Glendale and was appointed as the director of Community Development in 2010.

“The vision and inspiration Hassan Haghani provided to his department and the Glendale community is a reflection of the day-to-day quality of life we so enjoy in our business districts and neighborhoods,” stated Mayor Zareh Sinanyan. “We wish him well and expect him to be as successful with the City of Santa Ana.”

In just the past three years, the Community Development Dept., under Haghani’s direction, was recognized by the American Planning Association with the Distinguished Leadership, Public Outreach, Urban Design Award of Merit, Award of Excellence, and the Transportation Planning Award. The California building officials recognized the Glendale Community Development Dept. as Department of the Year in 2014.

Haghani will continue to serve as the director of Community Development through mid-May and start with the City of Santa Ana in June.
