La Cañada will commemorate Memorial Day weekend with its traditional Fiesta Days weekend celebration, the 41st annual Fiesta Days weekend from May 23 to May 26. The weekend will provide a wide variety of events for attendees, from live music and entertainment to the Crescenta Cañada Fiesta Run to the annual parade.
This year’s parade is themed “Home Grown” and will “focus on local folks,” said Pat Anderson, president and CEO of the La Cañada Flintridge Chamber of Commerce.
Some of the locals of La Cañada Flintridge who will be featured during Fiesta Days include “Frozen” director Chris Buck and Kate Hansen, luger, Olympian and La Cañada High School graduate.
The full slate of activities will begin Friday night with Casino Night, held at the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge.
Saturday will feature a vintage car show and the La Cañada Flintridge Tournament of Roses Association third annual open house, where attendees can get a sneak peak at La Cañada’s float entry and the process that goes into building a float.
At night, the movie “Frozen” will be shown at Memorial Park, and Chris Buck will be in attendance to speak.
Sunday will feature a fireworks show and a performance by the La Cañada High School Jazz Band.
Monday will start early, with the morning run, the 39th annual Fiesta Days Run. The run will begin at Descanso Gardens with a 5K, 10K, 5K walk and one-mile family fun run. Registration for the run ends on May 20.
The annual parade will begin at 10:30 a.m., later that day.
“Fiesta Days is about community heritage,” said Anderson. “Moreover, we also want to recognize and pay respect to our men and women in uniform, past, present and future.”
