From War to Reconciliation – Moving On and Moving West
The Little Landers Historical Society and the Historical Society of Crescenta Valley are hosting a special Civil War presentation. Attendees will hear the stories of Civil War veterans who came west after their service and settled in Sunland/Tujunga and the Crescenta Valley. A Civil War cannon, gear and uniforms these men used 150 years ago will be on display.
The presentation takes place on Saturday, May 21 at 1 p.m. at Crescenta Valley Park. Bring a lawn chair. This event is free.
Crescenta Valley Park is located at 3901 Dunsmore (intersection of Dunsmore and Honolulu).

Hosting Expo
The CV Armenian Center is hosting a Summer Activity Expo on Sunday, May 22 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Center. Attendees will learn what activities are available for kids this summer. There will be representatives from different programs including karate, music, and dance classes as well as overnight and day camps.
All are invited for an afternoon of free info, free barbeque, and free fun.

Local Athletes to be Honored
The 2nd Annual ACE Awards that celebrate local high school and Glendale Community College athletes takes place on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Courtyard reception begins at 6 p.m.
Tickets are $5. The event is sponsored b the Glendale Character & Ethics Project.

Public Works Reps at CVCA Meeting
The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works will present information to the community about the upcoming sediment clean out of Hahamokngna Watershed Park. Besides the flood control mitigation efforts at Devil’s Gate Dam, they will also talk about the EIR they are preparing on this project, local sediment placement sites that will receive the material, and the citizen task force formed to help with this effort.
Hosted by the Crescenta Valley Community Association on Wednesday, May 25 at 7 p.m. at the Dunsmore Park Community Room, 4700 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta.
