Summer is almost here – time to enjoy the great outdoors. To prepare patrons, Sport Chalet in La Cañada on Saturday hosted its fifth annual Outdoor Expo on the grass area of Olberz Park next to the store.

Over 40 companies took part in the Outdoor Expo showcasing activities enjoyed in the fresh air. Enthusiasts not only had a chance to look at the latest products, but also to ask questions to help ensure their outdoor adventures were their best. There were several interactive demonstrations including the chance to test fishing gear in a line casting area.

North Face was on hand, bringing out tents and backpacks to spotlight their products. Other camping vendors had sleeping bags set up so visitors could see and feel products they might be considering.

In addition to camping, information was also available on rock climbing. Companies like Marmot set up a booth to talk to visitors about their products – hooks, ropes, helmets etc. – for summer. A free climbing wall was also available for visitors to try out.

A favorite activity in the Crescenta-Cañada area is mountain biking, and the Outdoor Expo had plenty to offer. Harbor Bikes and Diamondback are two big-name mountain biking companies. Harbor Bikes brought out some smaller bikes for kids as well as full sized models. Ocean Kayak was also on-site for folks who want to spend their time on the water.

For those who built up an appetite, the Grilled Cheese Truck and Longboards Ice Cream were on hand.

With more than 40 vendors on-site, there was plenty for guests to see at the Outdoor Expo.
