On May 22, citing personal reasons, Glenn Steiger resigned his position as general manager of the Glendale Water and Power Department. Glenn joined the City of Glendale in February 2008. He has introduced many programs and improvements to the department’s efficiency including the implementation of “Smart Grid” technology. That program alone has been considered the best implementation of such technology in the country.
“Over the past four years Glenn has taken GWP to new levels,” said Glendale City Manager Scott Ochoa. “Recognition from across the country has been bestowed upon GWP during his tenure. We wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
Next week, Ochoa will bring forward to members of the City Council Steve Zurn as the interim general manager of GWP. Zurn is currently the director of Public Works. He has worked for the City of Glendale for the past 25 years. He has spent his entire career in the Public Works Department. His various capacities within the department include budget officer, project manager, special project liaison and assistant director/chief administrative officer. The last nine years he has served as the director of Public Works.
Steve graduated from UCLA with a degree in Political Science and from California State University Long Beach with a masters degree in Public Administration. Steve would oversee both operations pending the appointment of a permanent general manager for Water & Power.
