Casino Night Kicks Off Fiesta Days
Kicking off La Cañada Fiesta Days, the LCF Community Center’s Casino Night will take place on Friday, May 24 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Advance tickets are available at www.cclcf.org for $25.
Casino Night games will include a poker tournament, Black Jack, roulette, craps, and spin-to-win. Prizes that have been donated by several local businesses will be awarded throughout the evening. Prizes for the poker tournament include a first prize of a 40” flat screen TV; second place prize of a Samsung Blu-ray Disc ™ /DVD Player; and the third place prize is a Sony X-Series wireless personal audio docking system.
Tickets will be available at the door for $30.

Wall of Honor at Scholl Canyon
Scholl Canyon Estates, an independent living community for seniors in Glendale, will mark Memorial Day on May 27 by establishing of a Wall of Honor to salute its veteran residents.
The unveiling of the wall, which includes ‘Then and Now’ photos of Scholl Canyon residents who served their country, will take place at 12:30 p.m. at 1551 E. Chevy Chase Dr., Glendale.

Standard and Poor’s Affirms City’s “AAA” Rating
On May 7, the City of Glendale received notification that Standard & Poor’s Ratings Services affirmed the city’s credit worthiness with a “AAA” rating.
The rationale in the report highlighted: diverse and expanding local economic base, and full participation in the Los Angeles area economy; history of very strong levels of unreserved fund balance levels; strong financial performance bolstered by good financial management practices; very low debt levels at 1.2% of assessed valuation (AV).
The city has no general obligation (GO) debt.
The report also received a favorable outlook indicating that the City of Glendale was stable and it reflects Standard and Poor’s anticipation that the city’s financial performance will likely remain strong, “…based on a diverse and broad local economy as well as sound financial management policies and practices.”
