Arrest Made in Sunland-Tujunga Vehicle Fires

The Los Angeles Police Dept. has made an arrest of an alleged arsonist who set fire to over 20 vehicles in the Sunland Tujunga area.

“[LAPD] became aware of suspicious auto fires in the foothill area,” according to an LAPD spokesman.

LAPD worked with LA City Fire Dept. arson investigators and, through the evidence found during the investigation, was able to identify a suspect.

“On May 29, the Major Crimes [Division] observed the alleged suspect and took that individual into custody,” said the spokesman.

According to reports, there were numerous vehicle fires between February and May throughout Sunland-Tujunga neighborhoods.

The department is preparing to file the case with the LA District Attorney’s Office.
