Update on Community Advisory from GPD

Glendale police have solved a case that began with postings on social media platforms.

GPD became aware that members of the community had been sharing information on social media platforms regarding similar incidents of two women approaching children and making inappropriate statements. It appeared in some of the incidents the children were accompanied by adults. Though there are several incidents shared on social media, the police department had only received two reported incidents that do not appear to be criminal in nature.

Detectives reached out to the community. A citizen became aware of the police department’s request for additional information, wrote down the license plate of a suspicious vehicle and notified the GPD. The detective assigned to the case, Detective Suzanne O’Brien, followed up with the lead and learned that the individual involved was a person with special needs. The conduct has been deemed non-criminal in nature and the GPD is currently working with the family in providing assistance and resources.

GPD thanks members of the community for their effort of communicating with each other, networking, staying vigilant and most importantly, calling the police.

The GPD would like to remind members of the community to be extra vigilant with their children and report any suspicious activity by calling 9-1-1.
