Los Angeles County Dept. of Public Health has confirmed 10 new deaths due to COVID-19 bringing the total as of June 8 to 2,655 deaths.
“Every day, we report these numbers knowing that they represent real people who have passed away and they represent families and friends who are experiencing profound loss. Our thoughts and prayers are very much with you all. We are so sorry for your loss,” said Barbara Ferrer, PhD, MPH, MEd, director of Public Health.
The number of new deaths and positive cases are slightly lower due to a lag in reporting over the weekend, Ferrer added.
Ninety-three percent of people who died had underlying health conditions. Of those who died, information about race and ethnicity is available for 2,463 people (99% of the cases reported by Public Health).
There were 623 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in LA County bringing the total to 64,644 positive cases.
The number of positive cases confirmed in the City of Glendale are now 1065, in La Cañada Flintridge the total number of reported cases is 55, Eagle Rock reported 203, Shadow Hills has 11, Sunland has reported 168 and Tujunga has reported 135. In the unincorporated areas of LA County, Altadena reported 170 cases and La Crescenta/Montrose reported 34 cases.
USC Verdugo Hills Hospital has released its information concerning COVID-19. There are seven patients who have been confirmed with COVID-19 hospitalized as of June 8, 113 patients have been sent home and 35 patients were transferred. There are 56 patients with negative COVID-19 tests currently in the hospital, 1,292 patients have been sent home and 11 patients were transferred. There are 16 patients with pending COVID-19 tests currently hospitalized and two patients were sent home.
