Foothill Flags Have Seen Better Days

Several American flags that line Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta are tattered, torn and weather-beaten.

Many residents have been concerned about the condition of the flags, said Steve Pierce, member of the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works took some time to unravel some twisted flags and gently care for them trying to get them to last just a few more weeks. They will be retired after July 4.

“New flags have been ordered and will be put up on Memorial Day next year and fly until July 4, 2012,” Pierce said.
