2400 block of Harmony Place in La Crescenta, a resident heard loud noises from outside her home. She witnessed a car idling behind her parked vehicle. A person got into the passenger seat of the waiting car and it drove away. She went out to her vehicle and noticed the radio was on. She started her car engine and heard a loud noise. It was discovered that the catalytic converter had been stolen.
The vehicle burglary occurred between 4:10 a.m. and 4:20 a.m.
June 10
900 block of Inverness Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, the front passenger window was smashed and a tote bag containing personal items and credit cards were stolen overnight.
June 9
*5300 block of Godbey Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, a package that had been delivered to the front porch of a home was stolen. Surveillance footage shows a male adult wearing a red shirt, blue jeans, black face mask and possibly holding a small hand axe or garden tool, unlocked the front gate to the home and took the package at 6:15 a.m.
*2400 block of Mayfield Avenue in Montrose, the driver’s side door lock on a vehicle was punched out and the steering wheel airbag had been cut out from the steering wheel.
The vehicle burglary occurred overnight.
June 8
*3100 block of Foothill Boulevard in La Crescenta, a bank employee noticed that an elderly man, who she knew to be showing signs of early onset dementia, had been making withdrawals from his bank account several times over the past few weeks. The employee was concerned the man was a victim of financial abuse/fraud. Deputies were notified and responded to the bank to speak with the man.
The victim told them he had known the individual asking for funds for 10 years; he had never met him in person only over the phone. The apparent phone scammer told the victim he just needed funds for a business that would be a good opportunity for the victim. He would withdraw funds and buy money cards. There were some inconsistencies in the victim’s statement as to how the cards were passed along to the scammer. The victim did not cooperate with the deputies and at times became abusive. Through an investigation it was discovered the man had been a victim of financial fraud in the past and an alert had been placed on the victim’s account.
The incident occurred between 9 a.m. and noon.
*900 block of Town Center Drive in La Cañada Flintridge, a man reported that he had parked his motorized bike in the bike rack at the shopping center and left to shop. He returned to find his bike, which was not locked to the rack, was stolen.
The theft occurred between 6:15 p.m. and 6:50 p.m.
*2300 block of Pickens Canyon Road in La Crescenta, a resident heard what sounded like a vehicle leaving his driveway. Surveillance footage showed two unknown males park their vehicle on his driveway and steal something from his vehicle. An investigation revealed one male had exited the vehicle with a car jack and lifted the vehicle off the ground. The second male then exited the driver’s side of the vehicle with an electric saw. While one suspect lifted the vehicle the other crawled under and stole what appeared to be the catalytic converter. The two suspects returned to their vehicle and left the area.
The theft of the catalytic converter occurred at 9:55 p.m.
