Glendale police have released their findings concerning a fatal motorcycle accident that occurred on May 30.

GPD determined that the cause of the accident that occurred at the corner of Foothill Boulevard and New York Avenue was due to a female driver making an unsafe left hand turn. The driver, a La Crescenta woman, had turned left in front of a motorcycle driven by Michael Nelson, 19, also of La Crescenta.

Nelson was driving westbound on Foothill Boulevard and the female driver was traveling eastbound on Foothill when she made a northbound left turn in front of the motorcycle.

A reception for Nelson was held at Sparr Heights Community Center on June 16. During the reception, several motorcycle riders participated in a memorial ride-by for Nelson. Riders began at the corner of La Crescenta and Montrose avenues, continuing to Downing Street where the reception was being held.

“It was the best send off we could have had,” said his cousin Brandy Yi.
