A small brush fire occurred near Newcomb’s Ranch in the Angeles National Forest on Sunday afternoon.
“It was a small one acre fire,” said Nathan Judy, U.S. Forest Service fire information officer.
A helicopter that was flying to assist a victim of a vehicle accident on Angeles Crest Highway noticed the smoke and called it into the Forest Service, Judy said.
Six engines, a hand crew and water tender responded to the fire at 2:51 p.m. and it was contained by 5 p.m.
The area is near Horse Flats campground in a heavy brush area, however the high humidity helped firefighters to quickly control the blaze.
