Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s detectives are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man suspected of sexually assaulting a young woman while she was walking on Briggs Avenue.
As reported last week in Crescenta Valley Weekly, a 21-year-old woman was walking southbound on Briggs Avenue near Altura Avenue about 6 p.m. on June 14.
“She said she felt like someone was walking near her,” said Sgt. Ray Harley. “She turned and the male suspect pulled down the [victim’s] shirt and fondled her.”
The suspect then ran northbound on Briggs Avenue. The victim contacted the CV Sheriff’s Station and deputies searched the area but the suspect was not found.
“It is important to let the [public] know what has happened and to be aware of their surroundings,” said Det. Frank Diana, who is investigating the incident.
“And whenever possible try to walk with at least one other person,” Harley added. “If you do get confronted yell and scream to draw attention to yourself.”
The suspect is described as a 20-to-30-year-old heavy set, six foot white or Armenian man with dark short curly hair who is unshaven. At the time of the assault he was wearing a maroon polo shirt and blue jeans.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Frank Diana at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station (818) 248-3464.
