Thefts from Cars Increasing

Glendale police are reminding residents if they see anything suspicious they should call the police immediately.

There has been an increase in petty thefts from vehicles in the last month within the far north Glendale area.

“We had 15 [thefts], two being auto burglaries the rest [appear to be] fishing,” said Officer Abe Chung.

Car fishing is a term that describes the method of theft. A suspect goes from vehicle to vehicle and attempts to open car doors. If they are unlocked, they open, the suspects then take what they want. If the door is locked, they move on to the next fish – or car.
