Shakespeare in the Park 2012
Crescenta Valley Arts Council presents Shakespeare in the Park on Friday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at Two Strike Park. Need more unrequited love and mistaken identity in your life? Join Shakespeare by the Sea for “Two Gentlemen of Verona” in its fifth annual celebration of the Bard. Bring chairs and picnic to enjoy a dramatically fun evening under the stars! Admission is free.

Detectives Recover ‘Most
Perfect Diamond’
CV Sheriff’s detectives announced the recovery of a diamond worth between $250,000 and $300,000. The jewel was allegedly stolen by a family member of the victim.

The recovered gem was subsequently taken to a professional jeweler who said that this was the most perfect diamond he had ever seen. He valued the diamond in excess of $600,000.

As the known suspect is still outstanding and as a means to protect the victim from future thefts, their identities will not be made known.

Author Janigan to Present
Lecture
Aris Janigian, author of “This Angelic Land,” will present a free lecture on Thursday, July 12 at 7 p.m. at the Glendale Central Library Auditorium. The critically acclaimed author tells the story of Adam Derderian, a hip, 27-year-old bar owner during his six-day journey through the surreal heart of riot-torn 1992 Los Angeles.

The Glendale Public Library and Friends of the Glendale Public Library in cooperation with Abril Books sponsor this free lecture.

Seating is limited. Library visitors receive three hours free parking across the street at The Market Place parking structure with validation.

Library Hosting Annual Chili Cook Off
Do  you have what it takes to be the La Crescenta chili champion? The La Crescenta Library invites the public to bring its best recipes and compete with others to be crowned the chili master of La Crescenta.

The cook off takes place on Saturday, Aug. 11 at 1 p.m. at the library.

‘Words of American Patriots’ in Glendale
The City of Glendale in partnership with local Adams Hill artist Michael Sheehan and 60 contributing artists host ‘Words of American Patriots.’ Featured artwork is from 60 individuals including City Manager Scott Ochoa and Councilmember Laura Friedman, who have created cardboard “canvasses” displaying the words of 18th, 19th or 20th century patriots.

The artwork will remain on display until Aug. 28 during normal park hours. For details, call (818) 548-2000.
