The body found in the Vasquez Creek area on Saturday has been identified as missing hiker Ertug Ergun, said Lt. Bale, Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.
“The cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries,” Bale said.
Hikers discovered Ergun’s body in the water at the bottom of a waterfall, about a four-hour hike from the Stonyvale Picnic Area in the Angeles National Forest where his vehicle was located on June 22.
The search for the Turkish engineer from Bakersfield began on June 20 when he was reported missing by his employer Gerry McGann. His disappearance sparked an intensive search that employed several search and rescue teams and a visit from the Consul General of Turkey Aydın Topcu who came to thank search members.
