Personnel from LA County Fire and the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Dept.-Crescenta Valley Station are responding to a fire at the restaurant Byblos Mediterranean Bakery at 2948 Foothill Blvd. at Ramsdell Avenue in La Crescenta. According to LA County Fire spokesperson Maria Grycan, the fire is confined to the roof of the restaurant. She added that a second alarm was issued and more resources were heading to the site.
Harry Leon of Leon Plumbing had workers on site. They were working in the basement of the restaurant when they reportedly smelled smoke and investigated. They saw flames and called the fire department.
According to Leon, the restaurant is currently closed and the owners are on vacation.
Foothill Boulevard east from Ramsdell Avenue is closed to through traffic.
Glendale Fire Dept. is also assisting with the fire.
