Wilderness Workday on Saturday
The Third Saturday Wilderness Workday is on Saturday, which is the 44th anniversary of Man’s landing on the moon. Volunteers are invited to head over to Deukmejian Wilderness Park from 8 a.m. until noon to take a “giant leap” in restoration efforts.

All ages and abilities are welcome to water trees and remove the non-native weeds from the surface of the park.

Bali and Beyond
A summer concert is being held at the La Crescenta Library on Friday at 6:30 p.m. The ensemble Bali and Beyond will perform a program highlighting the music, art and culture of Indonesia in the library’s community meeting room. No registration required. Admission is free. Funding provided by Supervisor Michael Antonovich through the L.A. Arts Council.

Portantino Launches Program
Former state assemblyman Anthony Portantino has launched a public interest talk show. “The Question Is with Anthony Portantino” will air on California Channel 101 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

The show premiered this month on the California Channel. Filmed by Charter Communications for statewide airing on California Channel 101, Portantino was tapped to discuss current topics, issues and problems facing California during a half hour talk show.

Portantino served in the California State Assembly for six years.


CVTC meeting tonight
The Crescenta Valley Youth Town Council will meet tonight at 6 p.m. at the La Crescenta Library followed immediately by the CV Town Council meeting. Newly appointed Crescenta Valley High School principal Linda Junge will be introduced at the meeting.

Councilmember Robbyn Battles will discuss the scheduled upcoming forum regarding big rig trucks that park on local streets. The forum will explore if the unincorporated Los Angeles County, La Crescenta will follow nearby cities in restricting parking of semi-trucks.
