Entertainment reporter Charly Shelton will be in San Diego at Comic-Con, a convention dedicated to comic books, movies and other pop-icons.  There are panels, including The State of the Geek, Tron Legacy (sequel to the original 1982 Tron movie) and panels from television shows like HBO’s  “True Blood” and CW’s “Supernatural.” Follow Charly on Facebook/podpeeks as he takes you through the convention and beyond.

LOCAL DEVELOPMENT ON CVCA AGENDA
The next meeting of the Crescenta Valley Community Association will feature a discussion of, and a look at, the plans for the controversial new office building on Foothill Boulevard and the historic Moreton Bay Fig Tree that is threatened by the development. Also on the agenda will be a look at Glendale’s new water well on the Rockhaven site, a planned condo development on Piedmont, and a discussion of efforts to establish residential building standards (such as anti-mansionization rules) for La Crescenta. The meeting will take place on Wednesday, July 28 at 7 p.m. in the Dunsmore Park Community Room at 4700 Dunsmore Ave.

Rep. Schiff to Host Small Business Assistance and Career Opportunity Fair
On Aug. 11, Rep. Adam Schiff will host a Small Business Assistance and Career Opportunity Fair. At this event, Rep. Schiff will bring government and community resources together to assist individuals looking for work and small businesses trying to grow.
“Far too many people throughout our community are still seeking access to business opportunities and employment, and I hope this business development and career fair will help them discover new resources to succeed,” Rep. Schiff said. “The career fair will provide an opportunity for people to network and find additional ways to gain employment or build their businesses, even in a challenging economy.”
Participants will have the opportunity to attend workshops conducted by the Small Business Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Dept. of Commerce Minority Business Development Agency, and the CA Employment Development Department.
Additionally, federal, state and local government agencies and nonprofit resources will be available to provide information about career opportunities and career assistance.
The event will be held at the Pasadena Convention Center, 300 E. Green St. Check in and late registration will be from 8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. To pre-register go to
