Man Arrested for Sexual Assault on Teenager

On Friday, July 17 detectives arrested 33-year-old Jose Callejas of Glendale for multiple counts of sexual assault on a minor, a 13-year-old female victim from Glendale. Callejas and the minor met in a chat forum online and engaged in conversations that were sexual in nature.

The police investigation began on Thursday, July 16 when the minor’s older siblings reported to police suspicious activity involving the younger sister. In one particular incident, Callejas came to the victim’s residence posing as the father of a friend she recently met. Callejas said he was there to give the victim a ride to meet his daughter. The older siblings found inconsistent statements made by both Callejas and the minor. The minor’s older brother reviewed the content of the victim’s computer and found the online conversations. In addition to the conversations, explicit photos were found.

Detectives from Glendale Police Dept. discovered that Callejas and the victim had met on at least two occasions, during which time crimes occurred. Upon completion of the investigation, the case was presented to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office where Callejas was charged on six counts of felony sexual assault on a minor. He is currently held on a $200,000 bond.

The Glendale Police Dept. would like to remind parents and family members to monitor their children’s online activities and question suspicious behavior.
