Nominations Sought
The Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the annual recognition banquet dinner to be held on Thursday, Oct. 25. The Chamber will once again honor individuals, businesses, organizations and professional groups whose service to the community has improved the quality of life in the Crescenta Valley.

Nominations will be taken for the categories of Man of the Year, Woman of the Year, Business of the Year, Organization of the Year, Educator of the Year, Volunteer of the Year and Beautification Award. Recipients and their spouse/guest will be guests of the Chamber. The banquet will be held at the La Cañada Country Club.

Also being recognized will be a Student of the Year and individuals in law enforcement and the fire department.

Nominations may be made by individuals or organizations. Deadline for nominations is Sept. 7. Nominations may be mailed to Crescenta Valley Chamber, Recognition Awards, 3131 Foothill Blvd. #D, La Crescenta. They may also be faxed to (818) 248-9625.

Selection of awardees will be based on contributions to the business environment, exceptional achievement or service to our community, and outstanding social, civic or educational leadership.

Summer Screenings at
the Alex
Glendale Arts has partnered with Tegan Summer Productions to present four American Classics at the Alex Theatre. All screenings are at 7 p.m.

First on the roster is “The Sound of Music” on Aug. 8, then Aug. 15 is “ET – The Extra Terrestrial” 25th anniversary screening, “The Princess Bride” on Aug. 22, and finally, “The Neverending Story” on Aug. 29.

Individual tickets for the screenings are $12 for adults and $8.50 for children and seniors plus a $2.50 per ticket facility/restoration fee.

Tickets can be purchased 24 hours a day/seven days a week at www.AlexTheatre.org or in person at The Americana at Brand concierge desk in the Grand Lobby.

Donations ACCEPTED for Recycling Drive
SoCal Recycling has a recycling drive on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Verdugo Hills Golf Course. The drive will support the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce. The recycling drive coincides with the chamber’s golf fundraiser. Proceeds from both events benefit the chamber’s scholarship fund.

Verdugo Hills Golf Course is located at 6433 La Tuna Canyon Road in Tujunga.
