Kids facing foster care have a lot of concerns. The decision to take children from their home and to a foster family is often times done at night, and can be chaotic. The Crescenta Cañada Lions Club has made that transition a little easier by collecting backpacks for kids to put their personal items in if foster care becomes an issue as part of its Kases for Kids campaign.
The club collected backpacks on Saturday and although the foundation of Kases for Kids is backpacks, donors also brought suitcases, personal items like toothbrushes and toys as well.
“We did very well,” said Dee Rinaman from the Lions Club of the campaign.
They collected 64 suitcases/backpacks on Saturday. The items collected were given to the Dept. of Children and Family Services for distribution to children heading to foster care.
