Crescenta Valley High School will welcome two new assistant principals this school year – Jordan Lessem and Bill Gallimore.
Lessem comes to CVHS from Calabasas High School where he served as assistant principal of athletics. He also worked with the science, math and social studies departments.
He will be working with the athletics and social science departments as CVHS works on a new organizational design of a school within a school, according to Principal Linda Junge.
The principal, associate principal and three assistant principals will be in charge of specific areas where they will focus on what is needed for those programs. For example, Gallimore comes from Burbank High School where he was a world language specialst in American Sign Language. He also focused on the arts, which will be his specialty at CVHS.
The new organizational plan
is meant to help teachers advocate for their specific needs.
“[We are] trying to streamline the process [of requests for supplies, teachers, etc.], help teachers and be a resource,” Gallimore said.
He will be focusing on CVHS on the Arts, including ceramics, theatre, music, dance and all forms of art.
The two new assistant principals have been at the school in recent days talking to teachers and staff and learning how things are done the CV way.
“My first impression is that everyone is happy. There is a strong community culture,” Lessem said.
“There are lots of strength and positive [attitudes],” Gallimore added. “We have met lots of great people.”
They both praised CVHS’ reputation of a high performing school and said they are looking forward to meeting the 700 incoming freshmen as well as the entire 2,700 member student body.
