Mountain Rescue at Brand Park

On Sunday, Aug. 7 at 4:53 p.m., the Glendale Fire Dept., under the command of Battalion Chief Lynch, responded to a report of a hiker in need of medical attention within Brand Park located at 1601 W. Mountain St. in the City of Glendale.

GFD personnel searched and located the hiker at the Seven Pines area on the trail behind the Brand Library. The hiker was able to walk down the trail with the assistance of the firefighters.

GFD paramedics assessed and treated the hiker at the scene. The patient was not transported for further medical evaluation. GFD resources were on scene for one hour and 28 minutes.

The GFD encourages residents to bring water, wear appropriate clothing, bring a flashlight or headlamp, a light snack, and a charged cell phone when hiking. Additionally, persons should always stay on the trails to avoid getting lost.
