On Tuesday the Los Angeles County Fire Dept. distributed National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) weather radios to those living in areas of high fire danger, which is most in the foothills community. The radios will provide wildfire and disaster alerts even when power or cell service is down. The majority of residents who picked up the radios had registered for them in advance.
LACoFD received a grant to purchase the radios for high fire risk areas as another proactive tool in preparing for wildfires. For more information contact maria.grycan@fire.lacounty.gov.
