Two juveniles were arrested on Sunday after leading law enforcement on a car pursuit along the Foothill (210) Freeway ending on Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge.
At about 2:38 p.m. on Sunday, California Highway Patrol – Altadena Office was notified of a pursuit of a gray Nissan Altima reported as stolen. The vehicle was traveling westbound on the 210 Freeway from the City of Arcadia. Altadena area CHP units took over the pursuit aided by an Orange County Sheriff’s Dept. airship.
The original pursuit began in Orange County according to a CHP spokesman.
The pursuit continued westbound on the 210 in light traffic at speeds between 45 and 100 miles per hour. The Nissan exited and traveled northbound on Lincoln Avenue. The Nissan traversed several surface streets and re-entered and exited the 210 and SR-710 more than once. The pursuit continued eastbound on Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada Flintridge at speeds between 45 and 65 mph. The Nissan turned left, traveling north on Oak Grove Drive and came to a dead end at the entrance to Jet Propulsion Laboratory. The driver made a U-turn and continued southbound on Oak Grove Drive. When she attempted to turn right onto Foothill Boulevard she lost control of the vehicle and hit a Cadillac, ending the chase.
The female driver and male passenger, both juveniles, were taken into custody without incident.
The investigation is ongoing and charges against both suspects are pending.
