On Thursday afternoon the 3300 block of Montrose Avenue was shut down while an investigation was conducted after a possible bomb was discovered in a vehicle.
According to Sgt. Kevin Hirano of the Glendale Police Dept., officers were following up on a call when they arrived at a home in the 3300 block of Montrose Avenue. After speaking to the homeowner and getting his consent, they approached the vehicle and saw a device that had the appearance of a small pipe bomb. The Los Angeles County Bomb Squad was called and immediately responded. Traffic along the street was diverted.
The bomb squad did a visual inspection then performed an X-ray on the device. It showed to be empty.
“We needed to investigate this because of the safety issue to the community,” said Hirano.
The street was reopened to traffic at about 2 p.m.
