See’s Candies Store in La Cañada Flintridge Robbed by Lone Suspect

By Mary O’KEEFE

On Monday, a man entered the See’s Candies store at 1133 Foothill Blvd. in La Cañada at 6 p.m., just before the store was scheduled to closed. He ordered the two employees to lock the door and demanded money from the cash register.

There were no customers in the store at the time, said Sgt. Ray Harley, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Crescenta Valley Station.

The suspect gave the impression he had a weapon under his long sleeve shirt, however no weapon was seen, Harley said.

The employees complied with the suspects demands by placing an unknown amount of cash into a See’s Candies bag. The man took the bag and fled the store.

While in the parking lot, the suspect encountered a woman customer and calmly told her the store was closed. The woman entered the store and discovered the employees had just been robbed.

The suspect was described as a male Hispanic, 25-to-30 years old, 6 feet tall, weighing about 190 pounds. At the time of the incident he was wearing a blue long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, dark sunglasses and a green ball cap with white lettering on the front. He was last seen walking westbound on Verdugo Boulevard from Foothill Boulevard.
