On July 29, LCPC Parent Education presented a check for $12,314 to the executive and program directors of The Oasis of Hollywood. In keeping with the Parent Ed founders’ directives, LCPC Parent Ed tithes 10% of its fundraising proceeds to a non-profit organization that supports children and families. The Parent Ed board voted on The Oasis of Hollywood as its 2024 tithe recipient for the year.

The Oasis of Hollywood is a multi-faceted, faith-based ministry in the heart of Hollywood that has been blessing families for 45 years. It is passionate about reaching and serving the next generation and its families by meeting spiritual and practical needs and fully utilizing the resources that God has given. It provides several weekly outreaches including Kidz Klub and Oasis Youth and grocery delivery to families and grocery outreach to local neighbors. The Oasis serves as a haven of hope in the community of Hollywood. Anyone who would like to learn more about The Oasis of Hollywood, or volunteer, can visit the website https://oasisofhollywood.org/.

LCPC Parent Education also announced it is partnering with The Oasis of Hollywood to expand Parent Education to the community of East Hollywood. Parent Ed and Oasis staff hosted a listening session for parents on the evening of July 29. Parents and children were welcomed with dinner and gift bags funded by the Kim Gilmour-Bowser Outreach Memorial. Dinner was followed by a Q&A session with Parent Education staff members Nanette Brown, Amanda Baughman and Anne Bierling. The Oasis’ Parent Ed evenings will begin bi-monthly meetings in the fall for the parents of East Hollywood. Anyone interested in supporting this work by donating to the Kim Gilmour-Bowser Outreach Memorial can contact Parent Ed assistant director Amanda Baughman at amanda@lacanadapc.org.
