EVENING WITH THE STARS
CELEBRITY GALA COMING UP
The Desi Geestman Foundation is hosting the 7th Annual Evening with the Stars Celebrity Gala, a star-studded gala where fans get to dine, meet and mingle with their favorite daytime celebrities. Tickets are $100 and all proceeds benefit the Desi Geestman Foundation. The event takes place on Saturday evening, Oct. 9 from 7 to 10 p.m.
The Evening with the Stars charity gala takes place in the heart of the Farmers Market and will feature live entertainment, silent auction and an opportunity drawing.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
This Saturday, Sept. 18 there will be a “Wilderness Workday” at Deukmejian Wilderness Park from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
The workday is a time for trail rebuilding and seed collecting. Attendees will learn some basic trail building skills and assist us with ongoing efforts to open the trails and wilderness areas in the park.
Help the City of Glendale Community Services and Parks Department continue to gather seeds from the native plants in the park for its own plant nursery and restoration projects.
Lunch will be provided by the Concerned Off Road Bicyclists Association (CORBA) with funding from an REI grant.
Wear sturdy closed toed shoes and protective clothing. Bring water, sunscreen, gloves and a hat.
DEBRIS BASINS TOUR SATURDAY
On Saturday, Sept. 18 at 9:00 a.m. Los Angeles County Public Works invites the community to a tour of the Pickens Debris Basin, the Dunsmore Debris Basin, and the sediment placement site at Deukmejian Park.
The tour begins at 9 a.m. at the Pickens Yard, located at 4628 Briggs Ave. (a driveway just north of the Sheriff’s Station parking lot where parking is available). Maps will be available if needed.
It is advised to wear sun protection and comfortable shoes. This tour should conclude by noon.
ROAD KINGS TO VISIT BURBANK’S ROSE FLOAT
The Burbank Tournament of Roses will be visited by the Road Kings of Burbank classic car club for the club’s Garage Cruise on Saturday, Sept. 18. Members of the car club plan to make the Burbank Rose Float their 10:30 a.m. stop.
Car enthusiasts may expect to see a few roadsters as Burbank’s 2011 Rose Entry, “Centennial Celebration,” features a replica of a 1930s Model A “High Boy” Roadster, which sets prominently at the front of the float.
The Burbank Rose Float is located at the Burbank Water and Power, located at 123 W Olive Ave. in Burbank at the Flower Street entrance. Parking will only be available at the Burbank Metro Station Lot located at Flower and Olive (under the pass).
