LA County Parks and Recreation is offering an “Every Body Plays” drop-in adventure program for children between the ages of 7 and 17. This program includes offers plenty of activities such as arts and crafts, sports, nature hikes and such more. Perhaps the best part is that all of it is free.
The events are held Monday through Friday, and start at 2:30 p.m. and end at 5:30 p.m. The program will be running until May 26 2023.
One activity offered is classes and demonstrations that encompass ESTEAM (environment, science, technology, engineering, arts and math). Kids attending will get the chance to learn about the planet’s ecosystem and how it can be protected. There will be instructors on-site who will help facilitate and teach.
Locally, the “Every Body Plays” program can be found at Crescenta Valley Park, 3901 Dunsmore Ave. in La Crescenta. Anyone interested in attending can go to the community building at the park where staff is able to offer information. Additional details can also be found at the LA County website or by contacting the staff directly. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact the Recreation Services Supervisor David Hauser and fill out an application.
In addition to the regular activities offered during the week, upcoming plans include “Sports for All – Basketball” beginning on Oct. 25 for ages 6 to 8. Another “Sports for All – Basketball” program for ages 9 to 12 will begin on Oct. 27. Both of these programs are free and will take place on the outdoor basketball court from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. Parents can register their children online.
In addition, the “Every Body Plays” programs give kids the opportunity to make friends, learn something new and get creative during their after-school hours.
