Two local business districts will receive an early Christmas present from the city, as the redevelopment agency voted to appropriate up to $7,500 for Sparr Heights and the Montrose Shopping Park for holiday promotion.
The funds will come out of money appropriated for the city’s Buy Glendale program, which has been slow to get started. Five districts will be funded for a total of $37,500.
GRA director Phil Lanzafame said the agency came to realize it could not have the program in operation by Christmas, and came up with the idea of an early payment.
Each of the five business districts receives $15,000 a year in promotional funding from the city. The new money will be handled similarly, with the city making payments on specific programs with backup paperwork.
