Movie in the park on Saturday
The Crescenta Valley Town Council, with the L.A. County Parks Department, is hosting a free Movie in the Park event at Two Strike Park on Saturday.
The evening begins at 7 p.m. with a “cartoonfest” featuring classic Looney Tunes cartoons. At approximately 8 p.m. the classic 1953 Desi/Lucy movie, “Long, Long Trailer” will be shown.
Moviegoers can bring a blanket, picnic baskets (no alcohol in the park), and chairs. Popcorn will be supplied
Two Strike Park is located at 5107 Rosemont Ave. in La Crescenta.

Community meetings to review plans for after the Station Fire
Glendale officials will host two community meetings to review winter weather preparation plans and to answer questions from the public regarding the transistion from fire to ash that now blankets the San Gabriels. The discussion will cover what agencies are doing to prepare for the air quality conditions when the Santa Ana winds begin and what the future holds with the anticipated potential flooding in the burn area with the predicted “El Nino” weather pattern.
The meetings are at 10 a.m. on Sept. 26 and 7 p.m on Sept. 28. Both will be held at the Center for Spiritual Living, 4845 Dunsmore Ave.

Candidate apps now available for CV Town Council
The Crescenta Valley Town Council is seeking candidates for the Nov. 7 town council election. Registered voters who have lived in the unincorporated portion of Montrose or La Crescenta (between Pennsylvania and Briggs avenues) are eligible to run for office. Meetings are held at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of the month.
Applications must be received prior to the Oct. 15 candidate forum.

Emergency Expo offers 
demonstrations, information

The third annual Emergency Expo takes places from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.  this Saturday, Sept. 26 in the east parking lot of Verdugo Hills Hospital, 1812 Verdugo Blvd.
Various emergency agencies will be represented. Visitors will see demonstrations of safety equipment, have the chance to talk with paramedics, watch search and rescue dogs in action and learn about the latest in fire safety.
