Free Rabies Vaccinations
Crescenta Valley Veterinary Hospital is participating in World Rabies Day on Friday, Sept. 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.
Pets can receive a rabies vaccine at no cost. All animals must be current on their annual exam. Those due for an exam can have one at the reduced price for this event only of $38.
Additional discounts for this event only will be micro-chipping for $25, which includes the $17.99 lifetime registration.

Flu Shots at the Y
Crescenta-Cañada Family YMCA will be hosting flu shots on Thursday, Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon. The shot is free for those with Medicare Part B as primary insurance. Seniors on HMO or Medicare pay $25 and then seek reimbursement from their private insurer. The services are provided by Flintridge Pharmacy.

AFC Holding Introductory
Workday
The Arroyos Foothills Conservancy has received a grant from the County of Los Angeles to plant native trees in local foothills. Volunteers can help in the reforesting efforts in Altadena’s Rubio Canyon and La Crescenta’s Goss Canyon, as well as wilderness the AFC is working to preserve in Altadena’s Millard Canyon. An introductory workday is on Saturday, Oct. 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Join expert trail and habitat restoration leaders in Altadena’s Rubio Canyon and learn how to build trails and restore habitat. Meet at 1101 E. Loma Alta Dr.
It is recommended to wear long pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a hat, good shoes, gloves and bring water.

Sheriffs Prepare for Open House
The Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station is inviting the community to its Annual Station Open House on Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The station will open its doors for tours so the public can meet some of the station personnel and learn how they work together to provide service for the community.
There will be displays from other specialized sheriff’s units and some local community members. Montrose Search and Rescue Team members and McGruff, the crime fighting dog, will be on hand. The Mobile Range, Share Tolerance Trailer, and the MADD/DUI Exhibit trailer will offer demonstrations. Free children identification photo cards will be available plus much more. There will be food and snacks available to enjoy while visiting the station.
This free event is expected to be fun for all of citizens.
