Edison Elementary School and the Glendale Educational Foundation will host the 7^th Annual State of the Schools breakfast on Thursday, Oct. 6, an event which serves to inform parents and the community at large about upcoming district developments. Teachers and administrators will be in attendance, including board of education member Greg Krikorian.

“I’m proud to say I’m onboard for the State of the Schools,” Krikorian said. “This is a great opportunity for the community to hear and for us to present the current state of education and what lies on the road ahead.”

What lies on the road ahead includes new developments in “infrastructure, the progress of our successful bond measure [Measure S], and other new and informative developments,” said Krikorian.

The Glendale Educational Foundation, who is sponsoring the event, will also be presenting some new programs of theirs, along with the foundation’s new logo. In addition, the foundation will be honoring two members of the community with the Educational Excellence Award: Roxanne O’Rourke, a teacher at Horace Mann Elementary and Johnny Harrison of Lexus at Glendale.

Amidst all of this, the students have not been left out of the festivities. The breakfast will be prepared and served by the Bistro at Glendale High School. The menu will feature a variety of breads, fruits and cereals. The Crescenta Valley High School Jazz Band will perform toward the beginning of the breakfast and the Hoover High School Marching Band will perform at the conclusion.

“It’s an exciting event,” Krikorian said. “It’s exciting to be able to showcase what’s new with our schools and the district to the community.”
