Glendale K9s Get Ready for Park Event

A kick off to the Third Annual Glendale K-9s in the Park was held at CV Insurance on Foothill Boulevard and Pennsylvania Avenue.

CV Insurance and Met Life insurance are the main sponsors of the Glendale Police Department’s K-9 event which will be held on Oct. 15 at Verdugo Park.

The Glendale Police K-9 Unit is funded through donations from the public and this Verdugo Park event.

The unit has recently retired two dogs. At present they have one dog that works at the Glendale schools, one works as a narcotics dog and one on patrol, said Sgt. Chris Spencer.

The Glendale Police Foundation, the Glendale K-9 Unit, the Glendale city Clerk and Community Services and Parks host the October event. The day will include entertainment, a pet adoption fair, pet costume and speed contests, barbeque plus a free bouncers and face-painting for kids.

The star of the event will be the K-9s who will have participate in demonstrations and visitors will be able to take a photo with their favorite K-9 team. Admission is free.
