On Sept. 28 at 4:51 a.m.
A 38-year-old Saugus man traveling eastbound on the Foothill (210) Freeway fell asleep at the wheel of his Nissan. His vehicle veered to the right across the path of a tractor-trailer truck driven by a 36-year-old Montclair man. The truck driver applied his brakes but was unable to avoid a collision. The truck continued southeast, slid down an embankment, across the Ocean View Boulevard on-ramp to the eastbound 210, into the landscaping south of the on-ramp and flipped over, colliding into a tree. Both drivers were transported to Verdugo Hills Hospital.

On Sept. 29 at 4:30 a.m.
A 48-year-old Fontana man was driving a tractor-trailer truck when he fell asleep at the wheel. His truck drifted to the right onto the right shoulder where he sideswiped a call box and struck the guardrail before going over the side. No injuries were reported.  The number three and four lanes were closed until noon for cleanup efforts.
