Station Fire transcripts released

By Mary O’KEEFE

U.S. Forest Service has released transcripts that chronicle from the first few hours
of the Station Fire through Sept. 4. Congressmen Adam Schiff and David Dreier were among California representatives who requested the transcripts be
released.
The tapes paint a picture of how the fire began with calls from U.S. Forest personnel and individuals who reported the fire as it grew. A request for air water tankers to be diverted from another fire was made during the first night of the fire but they didn’t arrive until early the next morning.
The Government Accountability Office has agreed to investigate the Station Fire.  The investigation will begin in about three months.
The released transcripts can be found at www.fs.fed.us/temporary/stationfiredocs.
