The Crescenta Valley Group of the Sierra Club is having a virtual presentation on how to create a toxic-free environment on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Megan Liu, the Science and Policy manager at Toxic-Free Future (www.toxicfreefuture.org), a national leader in environmental health research and advocacy. Liu will share some simple ways people can protect themselves from exposure to harmful chemicals and discuss how policy and market initiatives can provide further help.
A resident of Seattle, Washington, Liu manages TFF’s national initiatives. She has researched toxic chemicals in cosmetics, plastics and building materials, conducted community lead testing events and supported TFF’s legislative work in Washington. She has a bachelor’s degree in molecular and cell biology from UC Berkeley and is passionate about understanding how social determinants of health and systemic inequities can impact health outcomes, especially those pertaining to environmental health.
