It’s the month of October, which means those in Glendale and Montrose will be seeing a lot of pink.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Pink Patch Project is part of raising that awareness. Those living and working in Glendale and Montrose will see the pink patrol unit around town and those who look closely will see firefighters and police with pink patches on their uniforms.
It is all to remind women, and men, to get regular breast cancer checkups including mammograms. According to the American Cancer Society, in 2017 there were an estimated 252,710 new cases of invasive breast cancer, 63,410 new cases of breast carcinoma in situ and 40,610 breast cancer deaths in the United States.
In the coming weeks, CVW will look at screening and treatments for breast cancer.
