Public invited to come celebrate 50 years of Falcon pride

By Mary O’KEEFE

Tonight, Thursday, everyone is invited to celebrate Crescenta Valley High School’s 50th anniversary from 5 to 8 p.m.
“We will have [performances] by the CVHS Jazz Band and choir. The school’s first principal Bill Thomas will be speaking,” said Asst. Principal Lisa Reed.
A pasta dinner will be offered for $7 a serving with the proceeds going to Prom Plus. The organization provides an after prom party that gives seniors and their dates a fun destination where they can climb a rock wall, ride a mechanical bull as well as try their luck at the casino. The event is after prom from midnight to 5 a.m.
The high school’s JROTC, which is the only ROTC program in the Glendale Unified School District, will be the color guard for the anniversary event.
“At 5:30 p.m. we will have a Powder Puff game and that will be followed by the homecoming bonfire,” Reed added.
The campus will be open so guests can tour the ceramics/art department, the career center and the library. Some stain ed glass windows have been installed in the library as part of a gift from the Class of 2010 however more donations are needed to complete the window. Those who would like to donate will be able to do so at the event.
Everyone is invited whether they have graduated from CVHS or not. For those who have children at the school it is a chance to walk the campus with their kids. For those who have younger children it is a chance to see what the future holds. CVHS is known for its school excellence and pride but because it is Homecoming weekend the Falcon spirit will be strong. To share in the spirit, the pride and the celebration is an opportunity that should not be missed.
