At about 4 p.m. on Tuesday, a California Highway Patrol captain was driving in a CHP emergency vehicle traveling westbound on the Foothill (210) Freeway at Wheatland Avenue when he noticed a sedan traveling at high speeds behind him.
The vehicle drove past the CHP captain at unsafe speeds, according to Officer Ryan Bejar.
The captain activated his emergency lights and sirens and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle fled. A pursuit began with the vehicle traveling on and off the freeway throughout various cities.
According to a CHP spokesman, at times the vehicle traveled in excess of 100 miles per hour. As a result of the vehicle’s unsafe driving, it was involved in numerous collisions including one final collision after the driver exited off the freeway at Pennsylvania Avenue, Bejar said.
The male driver and female passenger fled the vehicle. CHP captured both the driver and passenger who were taken into custody.
