A Fun Run

Hundreds of running (and walking) enthusiasts poured onto the streets of La Crescenta for the annual 5K Walk-Run. The course started at Two Strike Park, continued south on Rosemont then west on Orange/Santa Carlotta to Frederick Street then looped back.

The Halloween Fun Run was Saturday when runners and walkers of all ages got up early and headed to Two Strike Park in La Crescenta to run the foothills, either in costume or traditional running gear.

The annual run started at 8 a.m. and everyone from the community was invited to participate. Kids could be seen from elementary, middle and high schools running (or walking) with parents. Younger kids, from those in strollers on up, participated in either the Kids Pumpkin Fun Run or the main 5K Run-Walk. Whether at the event with a competitive spirit or just happy to cross the finish line, everyone was there to support their community and have fun.

Warming up the crowd were members of Taix Extreme Bootcamp.

There were medals awarded in a variety of categories. The overall runners with the fastest times were (for the men) Steven Sullivan and (for the women) Julianna Cheney. For a complete list of the winners of the 5K in each division, see Lisa Dupuy’s column on page 22.

The funds raised for the run will go toward programs sponsored by the Crescenta Valley Chamber of Commerce including their scholarship program for local high school students.
