Remains Found at Mt. Wilson Identified

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified the body of a man who was found in the Angeles National Forest on Oct. 19 as Matthew Huerta, 18, from Sylmar.

Huerta was last seen on Oct. 18 at about 11:30 a.m.

“His family [was] concerned for his safety because he was suicidal,” according to a Los Angeles Police Dept. statement.

His remains were found in the ANF near the area of the Mt. Wilson Fire. There is no information as of press time as to the cause of his death. An autopsy was expected to be performed on Wednesday, according to Ed Winter, LA Coroner’s Office.

The investigation by the U.S. Forest Service and LA Sheriff’s Dept. into the Mt. Wilson Fire continues.
