Crescenta Valley Utility Pole Sheared at Offramp

A utility pole was left leaning against power cables at the La Crescenta Avenue off ramp of the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway this morning after a semi-truck sheared it off at the base.

At about 11:50 a.m. the 30-year-old male driver of a semi-truck apparently took a turn too sharply at the exit and the vehicle’s trailer hit the power pole, said California Highway Patrol Officer Lee Millsap.

The base of the pole was splintered and fell over onto the nearby power wires. There were no injuries and no power outages at the time of the accident.

“Crews are out in the area making an assessment,” said Dave Ford, spokesman for Southern California Edison.

Ford added the pole would have to be replaced but expected little to no power outages during the repairs.
